Inuspheresis is an innovative blood purification procedure that specifically removes harmful substances, heavy metals, inflammatory factors and disease-promoting proteins from the body. It belongs to the group of apheresis procedures in which the blood is filtered outside the body and then returned purified.

How does Inuspheresis® work?

The way inuspheresis works is based on a highly specialized filtration process in which the patient's blood is purified outside the body to remove harmful substances.

In contrast to classic plasmapheresis, inuspheresis offers particularly selective and gentle cleansing - with the aim of preventing chronic diseases or treating their causes.

Blood sampling

First, blood is taken from the patient - this is done through a venous access, whereby the blood is continuously drained from the body.

Filtration

The contaminated plasma is separated from the whole blood by the plasma filter. The differential filter specifically removes the harmful substances while the useful components are retained.

Repatriation

After the blood has passed through the filtration process, it is returned to the body. The purified blood is returned via a second venous access.

The study situation

Inuspheresis® is based on the principle of apheresis - an established medical procedure that has been the subject of international research since its introduction in 1981. By mid-2025, over 33,000 scientific studies on apheresis had been published (source: PubMedJuly 2025). Over 500,000 individual pieces of data on inuspheresis itself have also been collected, analyzed and documented in 12 medical publications in recent years.

The results of these evaluations show: Inuspheresis can demonstrably improve microcirculation - i.e. blood flow in the finest vessels (arterioles and capillaries), where a large part of cellular metabolism takes place.

Current studies indicate that this procedure can show supportive effects in at least 17 clinical pictures - including chronic inflammatory diseases, autoimmune disorders and stress syndromes such as long COVID or chronic fatigue.

Is the treatment painful?

Inuspheresis® is considered to be very well tolerated. In rare cases, short-term circulatory reactions or fatigue may occur - comparable to a larger blood sample. Our medical care ensures that possible reactions are recognized and treated at an early stage.

How many sessions do I need?

This varies from person to person. For many patients one to three sessionsdepending on the clinical picture, degree of stress and therapy goal. A multi-stage treatment series can be useful for chronic illnesses.

Does inuspheresis have side effects?

Does the health insurance company pay for the treatment?

As a rule, this is a Private medical servicewhich is not covered by statutory health insurance. Privately insured persons may receive (partial) reimbursement depending on their contract. We will be happy to assist you with the necessary documents for reimbursement.

Who is inuspheresis not suitable for?

People with acute infections, unstable circulatory conditions or certain blood clotting disorders should be carefully checked in advance. Treatment is also generally not indicated during pregnancy.

How long does the effect last?

Many patients report a noticeable improvement immediately after the first treatment. The long-term effect depends on the initial situation, lifestyle and any follow-up therapies. Inuspheresis® can be used repeatedly or cyclically if necessary.

What is the difference to conventional apheresis?

Inuspheresis® uses a multi-stage filtration technology with two specialized membranes (TKM-58 and INUS 30). This makes it significantly more versatile than conventional lipid or plasmapheresis methods.
